Michter’s Announces Historic First Release of 10 Year American Unblended Whiskey
LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Following an unprecedented three consecutive years of being named The World’s Most Admired Whiskey, Michter’s Distillery is expanding its highly acclaimed portfolio. This April, the first-ever release of Michter’s 10 Year American Unblended Whiskey will be shipped from the distillery. This historic 2026 release marks a major milestone for the brand and has been officially approved by Michter’s Master Distiller Dan McKee and Michter’s Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson.
While Michter’s 10 Year Bourbon and 10 Year Rye have long been staples of the distillery’s limited-release calendar, this marks the very first time the Kentucky-based distiller has introduced a 10-year-old age statement for its beloved American Unblended Whiskey. Unlike Bourbon or Rye, which must be aged in new charred oak barrels, Michter’s American Unblended Whiskey is aged in whiskey-soaked barrels to achieve a distinctively rich and smooth flavor profile.
McKee observed, “Our US*1 American Unblended Whiskey has always held a special place in our hearts, paying homage to a historic style of American whiskey-making. For years, we have been carefully monitoring select barrels of this whiskey as they aged well beyond our standard profile. Seeing how this unblended spirit developed over a full decade in used oak has been a revelation. Our team is thrilled to finally share this historic, decade-old expression with our fans.”
Michter’s 10 Year American Unblended Whiskey is bottled at 94.2 Proof (47.1% ABV). According to Wilson, “The 2026 release of Michter’s 10 Year American Unblended is a masterclass in elegant maturation. Because it ages in our custom, naturally seasoned used barrels, the ten years of maturation impart an incredibly silky texture. It is a smooth, rich, complex, and captivating pour featuring deep notes of butterscotch, vanilla, and ripe orchard fruits, all without the heavy wood tannins you might expect from a decade in new oak.”
The 2026 release will have a suggested retail price of $185 for a 750ml bottle in the U.S.
